Employers cut jobs for 6th straight month
By JEANNINE AVERSA AP Economics Writer WASHINGTON (AP) - Employers cut payrolls by 62,000 in June, the sixth straight month of nationwide job losses, underscoring the economy's fragile state. The unemployment rate held steady at 5.5 percent.

Journal Sentinel to lay off 10 percent of workers
By EMILY FREDRIX AP Business Writer MILWAUKEE (AP) - Journal Sentinel Inc. will cut about 10 percent of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's 1,300 full-time employees due to the slump in ad sales affecting the entire newspaper industry.

Cement-truck drivers strike in New York City
NEW YORK (AP) - Hundreds of cement-truck drivers went on strike days before the Fourth of July holiday weekend, disrupting some of the largest construction projects in the city including the World Trade Center site. The strike began on Tuesday, when more than 400 cement-truck drivers joined the labor action by Teamsters Local 282.

Actors' union, theater producers reach agreement
NEW YORK (AP) - The actors' union and Broadway theater producers have reached a tentative agreement for a new 39-month contract that covers Broadway shows and touring productions.
